Coronavirus, COVID-19 | For Visitors

Temporary visitor policy

To help keep you and your family safe, and to reduce the spread of COVID-19, Boston Children’s and all satellite locations have added temporary limitations to our visitor policy.

Until further notice, only two adult caregivers may visit or accompany a patient at one time. For their own safety, visitors under the age of 18 — including siblings — may not visit. This includes visiting patients who are staying in the hospital, as well as accompanying a patient to an appointment at any of our locations, or seeking care in our Emergency Department.

When visiting or accompanying patients, please remember these tips:

  • If you are sick, please stay home.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze.
  • If you don’t have clean hands, don’t touch your eyes, nose, or mouth.

If you have a family member or friend at Boston Children’s and cannot visit in person, please consider other options for reaching out to let them know you care.

  • contact them via Facetime or Skype
  • send an email or card
  • call their room directly through Patient Information at 617-355-6201
  • contact our gift shop to send a surprise directly to their room

We know this may cause scheduling challenges, particularly for families with younger siblings, but we can all play a role in reducing the spread of this virus. We’re grateful for your help as we work together to safeguard all of our patients, families, and staff.

Suspension of in-person donations

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 precautions, we are suspending all tangible in-kind donations until further notice (including store-bought, homemade, and online in-kind donations). Thank you for your understanding, as our main focus is the safety of our patients, families and staff.
